The standard is used in conjunction with product specifications that identify the technical conditions of supply of products.

The manufacturer confirms that the products supplied comply with the ordering requirements. This certificate usually includes information on the results of non-specific inspections. This means that the values may concern:
- Actual values found in the lot provided,
- Actual values found in the tests on the same product but not on the same lot,
- Statistically established reference values.
Certificate issued by the manufacturer confirming that the products supplied correspond to the requirements specified in the order. This certificate includes the results of a specific inspection.

In inspection certificate 3.1 the manufacturer may resume the inspection results which have been calculated on the basis of specific inspection of the primary material or semi-finished products used by him, provided that he applies procedures to ensure traceability and is able to exhibit The relevant inspection certificate.
A certificate in which an authorized representative of the manufacturer, independent of the production department, and a representative authorized by the buyer or an inspector designated by the official directives, confirm that the products supplied meet the requirements of the order and indicate the inspection results.
In inspection certificate 3.2 the manufacturer may resume the inspection results which have been calculated on the basis of specific inspection of the primary material or semi-finished products used by him, provided that he applies procedures to ensure traceability and is able to exhibit The relevant inspection certificate.
